MFIs in Caucasus recovered from crisis

The microfinance institutions (MFIs) in the Caucasus seem to have recovered well from the economic and financial crisis, which hit the world in 2008 and 2009.

The indicators in Triple Jump’s database for the  Europe, Caucasus and Asia Region (consisting of 35 MFIs) demonstrate that MFIs in the Caucasus have improved their portfolio quality significantly in 2010 and that these MFIs are poised for growth again.
These (and other) findings were presented by Michael van den Berg, Triple Jump’s Regional Manager for the region during the Microfinance Forum 2010, held in Prague on September 24 and 25. However, the same database indicates that the effects of the crisis are still felt throughout Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Find Michaels power point presentation here.
