Triple Jump and Sustainable Development

Triple Jump uses a variety of ways to limit the environmental impact of its activities and contribute to sustainable development.

Triple Jump’s hands-on approach and our close relationship with our clients mean that air travel is essential to us doing our job well. We seek to limit our footprint by establishing local offices whenever this is relevant and possible.

To help compensate the environmental effects of our travels, Triple Jump offsets each flight through sustainable energy and forestry projects in cooperation with an organization called GreenSeat.

GreenSeat invests in projects that replace fossil fuels by renewable, clean energy. The projects avoid CO2 emissions and help combat climate change. Examples include wind turbine farms, hydropower plants, solar panels and sustainable reforestation projects.

In the office, we recycle, use environmentally certified paper, and whenever possible our publications are printed on FSC-certified paper. We also drink fair-trade certified coffee and tea from Cerro Azul. Employees are encouraged to use public transportation, and Triple Jump makes bicycles available to staff.

At the microfinance institution level, we realize that developing and implementing environmental policies requires a very specific expertise which most MFIs lack. Our social performance assessment tool does include one question on this issue, and we encourage interested MFIs to access the FMO MFI Environmental & Social Risk Management tool, which is available in four languages and can be downloaded from FMO’s website for free.
