' MFIs robust during crisis'

‘The performance of lower TIER MFIs is relatively robust during crisis.’ This is the conclusion of  Steven Evers, director of Triple Jump, in his speech at PlanetFinance, the Global Microfinance Investment Congress in New York, on the 25th of May 2010 .

Financing Second Tier MFIs: Overcoming Limited Access to Attractive Capital’

Performance TIER II and TIER III MFIs in Triple Jump Portfolio:
-    The performance of lower TIER MFIs is relatively robust during crisis.
-    The performance of lower TIER MFIs is in line with the performance of higher segment MFIs
-    The lower Tier MFIs maintain a better capital ratio’s
MFIs with better capital ratios, often smaller NGOs, are often more robust than larger MFIs with financial ratios close to minimum regulatory requirements.
