Triple Jump Advisory Services delivers a course on m-banking at Boulder Microfinance Training program
The Director of the Advisory Services foundation will be delivering a course on Increasing access to finance using mobile banking in the French track of the annual, world-renowned Boulder Microfinance Training program in Turin, Italy.
As m-banking has become an increasingly popular option to address the challenges of expanding access to financial services throughout the world, much of the focus has been on the technology itself and on regulatory frameworks that enable the use of new ICT. Yet, we have seen several projects fail or fall short of expectations due to being technology driven instead of business driven. MFIs have faced difficulties due to misunderstanding service offerings, poor planning, lack of proper human and technical resources and lack of process re-engineering to integrate the new service into operations. These challenges have all contributed to limited project success.
This m-banking course will focus on what financial institutions need to know before launching m-banking and present how mobile banking services work (citing country examples), what financial institutions need to know to plan, prepare and integrate the services and measure the results. The course will explore how mobile banking could cut costs and increase growth as well as the current challenges others are facing. Lectures, small group work and exercises will flesh out topics and details while encouraging debate.
