Expectations / Description of Role:

As Investment Associate (IA) you are responsible for a general support of the Fund of Funds Investment Team, with a focus on (support in) the identification, appraisal, processing and supervision of investments to intermediary funds and financial institutions active in direct SME investments in developing countries. The IA assist on the various aspects of fund investing, including: market research and deal sourcing; screening, due diligence, drafting investment proposals, deal structuring and negotiation; portfolio monitoring, communication and reporting to the client, representation at conferences. As IA, you will be involved in the build-up phase of a young investment fund as part of a dedicated investment team.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Preferably MA University degree in Finance, Economics or related fields;
  • >3 years relevant professional experience, ideally through direct exposure to impact investments in emerging markets; investment experience with Private Equity-type funds a plus
  • Work experience in developing countries a plus;
  • Existing network relevant to the position a plus;
  • Fast learner, good multi-tasker, strong team player (work as part of a small, dedicated team);
  • Comfortable in taking on new challenges while at the same time being hands-on regarding day-to-day tasks;
  • Excellent writing, presentation, analytical and organizational skills;
  • Fluent in English – knowledge of Dutch preferred, French and/or Spanish a plus;
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for market development and Due Diligence purposes;

(Senior) Advisor - Triple Jump Advisory Services

40 hrs per week, based in Amsterdam with regular travel to Africa

Through Triple Jump Advisory Services (TJAS) we provide seed capital, technical assistance and advisory services to portfolio companies and their customers globally. We serve a wide variety of Financial Intermediaries – from MFIs to PE Funds – who serve MSME in developing countries.

 

TJAS has supported more than 100 financial service providers with consulting and technical support in the field of product and channel development, governance, risk management, MIS implementation, social impact monitoring/measurement.

 

TJAS is currently developing and implementing a number of innovative and value-adding projects that make sense from both the business and social perspective:

  • Lean data management for MFI
  • Data-led smallholder finance
  • Linking savings groups to Financial Services Providers
  • Outcome Measurement using existing data.

 

Expectations

As (Senior) Advisor you will support the TJAS team in the development and implementation of technical assistance (TA) projects for Financial Services Providers across Africa.

 

More specifically you will be responsible for:

  • Acquisition of new clients, development technical assistance projects, subcontracting consultants, quality control and reporting
  • Developing, implementing and scaling innovative products and services for FSP in Africa that contribute to furthering the finance frontier
  • Raising additional funding to enable scaling of the services

 

You will report to the Head of Advisory Services. The position is for 1 year, but may be converted into a permanent position.

 

Job Requirements

  • > 5 years of relevant working experience in the field of consulting and TA in the inclusive finance sector in developing countries
  • > 2 years of experience in managing multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Strong expertise on Lean/Big Data, Savings Groups, Delivery Mechanisms such as mobile money and agent networks and Outcome Measurement.
  • Preferably existing network of qualified consultants, financial service providers across Africa
  • Network for and track record on fund raising
  • Fluent in English and a working knowledge of French or a local African language

Investment Officer Africa & Middle East (English & French speaking)

Full time, Duty station: Nairobi, Kenya

Expectations

As an Investment Officer you are responsible for the identification, appraisal, processing and supervision of loans to financial institutions in Africa. You ideally have an extensive regional network of partners and other people/institutions relevant to the fulfillment of your position. The position requires frequent travel to countries within the region. You will be based in Nairobi, Kenya. The position is initially for 1 year. If successful, the candidate will be offered a contract beyond the initial 1 year.

 

Job requirements

This position requires a strong finance background, acquired through studies in a relevant field and at least three years of relevant work experience at a fund manager, MFI or other financial institution. You have experience with analysing financial statements and dealing with legal and organisational issues as part of the due diligence process. You have demonstrable communication skills and are able to disseminate knowledge and mediate between different views. Your negotiation skills are excellent and, above all, you are capable of representing the funds we manage. You feel comfortable working in a team while independently developing new and managing existing markets. You are fluent in English and French (both speaking and writing) and ideally have work experience in developing countries.

Fund Accountant

Full time, based in Amsterdam

Expectations

As a Fund Accountant, you are responsible for:

  • carrying out periodic valuation on fund assets for the purpose of investment funds;
  • supervising the issue and procurement (liquidity management);
  • preparing fund financials and other quarterly reporting packages for funds and mandate under management;
  • setting up, maintain and improve the fund and investment accounting (ledger);
  • ensuring that the administered funds comply with relevant laws and regulations (including taxation laws) when it comes to the administrative record and financial reporting;
  • carrying out financial checks on the investment legal contracts;
  • further developing the hedge accounting regulations;
  • contributing to the optimization of processes, data capture and reporting packages;
  • liaising with (inter)national colleagues and clients.

  • striving for high quality and produce excellent reporting, assure business continuity

 

Job Requirements 

  • education at least college (HBO) with a degree of accounting and/or finance;
  • experience with fund accounting for funds;
  • experience in managing complex financial records;
  • proven experience with accounts receivables;
  • knowledge of financial instruments of fixed income, private equity type investments, foreign currency derivatives and private equity fund structure;
  • excellent knowledge of MS Word and Excel;
  • excellent knowledge of Dutch and English, (basic) knowledge of Spanish or French is an advantage;
  • international treasury experience is a plus;
  • result oriented, team player, excellent planning and organization skills, customer oriented, flexible, accurate.
