Junior Legal Officer
32-40 hours per week, initially for one year, Amsterdam based
Venturing at the frontiers of finance, financial institutions in developing countries and emerging markets are contributing to economic development and poverty alleviation through banking with the poor. Establishing sustainable financial systems for the bottom of the pyramid has been recognized as one of the most successful development strategies. These systems simultaneously contribute to financial sector development, enterprise formation and poverty reduction.
Triple Jump is an investment management company specialised in microfinance. We aim to support the expansion of financial institutions in developing countries by providing capital and advisory services. Among the funds Triple Jump currently advises are the ASN-Novib Fund, the Oxfam Novib Fund, the NOTS Microfinance Fund, the SNS Institutional Microfinance Fund and the Calvert Social Investment Foundation.
1. Expectations
As Junior Legal Officer you will be responsible for
• Maintaining general contact with clients, partners and investment officers;
• Assist in preparing legal contracts, documents and legal correspondence;
• Reviewing documents received prior to disbursement, and assist in final check for disbursement;
• Conducting legal research for particular issues as assigned by attorneys;
• Assisting in the implementation of and be actively involved in the compliance procedure;
• Following up requests from clients regarding legal issues and documents.
2. Job requirements
Candidates must have University or HBO education in corporate or business law, at least 12 months experience as Junior Legal Officer or comparable position in an international environment, fluent in English and Spanish, French and Dutch are a plus. Must be able to work under pressure and own initiative. Proactive and dynamic attitude, responsible, reliable, team player, service minded, eager to learn, with analytic skills. Ability to exercise good judgment in recognizing scope of authority and protecting confidential information. Demonstrates effective planning, organization skills and work to deadlines and time limits.
